Application-layer testbed for real-world experimentation in wireless ad hoc networks

Abstract


In this paper, an application-layer testbed program for experimental investigation of data transmission in real-world wireless ad hoc network environments is proposed. The designed multithreaded testbed performance is investigated in outdoor environment with laptop computers running Windows Vista operating system. The testbed is capable of performing routing and data transmission in different network configurations. A few important performance metrics are studied with this testbed. An extensive experimental evaluation demonstrates the usefulness of the testbed.
